Be different and spread your wings

When you hear some motivational quotes and speeches, you find a lot of references to the idea of “Wings and flying” suggesting that birds in general are the most motivated and successful creatures… Really???

I was reading the other day on why some birds “sunbath” with their wings wide open and here’s what the article included:

The birds invariably adopt a posture in which the body feathers are fluffed up and one or both wings are held out from the body, with feathers spread. It is thought that using the sun in this way does two things. It both helps the preen oil to spread across the feathers and drives parasites out from within the plumage. Some of these parasites feed on the feathers themselves and all are highly specialized, with many only found on a single species of bird.

So in short, birds use sunbathing with open wings as part of their routine feather maintenance.

Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.

Rabindranath Tagore

If we are to look on the behavior of humans, and combine the two analogies of spreading your wings as a mean to refer to success, and also to maintain your feathers, we can come to a nice conclusion which is our tip for this week:

Maintain your success by spreading your wings, and just be different than others, like the birds sit on the floor with their wings open to sunbath, you can make your success speak loud and clear without saying a word.

They say that you are as free as your options, so if you have more options, then you have more freedom than when you have less, and if you have some skill that is different than others, that gives you an additional option, and instead of just trying to ignore that and fitting in… Try to Embrace that and nourish your difference and just like a Bird SHOWCASE IT and maintain in, and eventually, you will do like the bird does… Fly away from whoever tries to criticize you.

Have a beautiful week,

Without Challenges, You can’t feel the taste of Success and Happiness.

When studying some basic concepts in psychology to help me understand the drive a person would have a to achieve a fulfilling life,  researchers always stumbled upon what we call Happiness. Are we happy when we have a high level of pleasure? Are we happy when we achieve a higher goal? is happiness a permanent state? a goal to reach for?

So many questions to be asked, and only one answer is interesting for you to know about right now, Happiness means different things to different people but somehow the impact is the same for everyone.

The same challenging definition is the definition of Success, is being successful related to fame, money, achievements? what does success mean? or even better.. what does Success TASTE like.

Each one of us have tasted success at one or more times in his or her life, it might be the first time you walked when you were almost 2 years old or the diploma you earned when you were 20 or the huge deal you landed to your company making you in the top 20% (The High Performers); I’m sure if you only closed your eyes for 20 seconds and remembered that time, you would suddenly smile and feel happy of the memory itself.

One thing that would make almost anything worth appreciating, is how easy or difficult it was for you to reach there… You see if you spent 2 minutes to find a photo online to use for your presentation, chances are you will forget where you stored it on your computer, and you probably won’t care that much if you lost it… Cause you will spend 2 more minutes later on to find it again or find an even better one.

Without challenges, success and excellence won’t exist, especially when such a success is meant for the homeland and its fruit is harvested by the citizens. Without challenges, we won’t feel the taste of success and happiness we wish for our people in this dear land.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

However when success was the highlight of a road filled with challenges, that taught us determination and when we needed to look for motivation to make it, this success will be hard to forget, and where you will be fighting to defend your right to keep it and benefit from it.

So if you were in challenging situation, just remember how Happy you would be when you succeed, knowing that you worked hard to make it happen.

Have a beautiful week,

Celebrate your Success, Every time!

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.

~ Oprah Winfrey

On a Monday like this, one year ago. September 2013… This Blog Saw the Light!

They say that there’s nothing so powerful than an Idea who’s time has come, or as Jim Rohn re-quoted: There’s nothing so powerful as an Idea that comes at the right time!

At most times, you can be used to looking back at your life, at your career, at your projects, at your decisions, at your ONE activity or even at the last hour you spent and try to see what went wrong and how you can improve next time. But the question to you is the following, How many time you looked back to analyze what went right? what was the reason to your success… Even the Smallest progress you’ve made?

We’ve all have experienced success at one point in time… It could be the first time you walked, the first good grade, the winning of a great deal and so on… Once you’ve had that, your mouth will start tasting something you’ve never tasted before… It’s the taste of Success; and Once you’ve tasted that, there is no turning back, and you won’t be able to accept the mediocre taste of the average or the terrible taste of failure.

Now this week’s tip, is about Celebrating Your Success and Moving Forward!

You may think that “Celebration” is something reserved for BIG announcements, and you may be right, because the “size” or “weight” of an achievement is all in your head, you can see it as a “Big deal” or you can see it as a not worth it

The reality of this concept is simple, and it have been tough to us a long time by our parents; you see when you were a little baby, your first few “attempts” of talking carried a large and often high & joyful reaction and celebration from your parents, and the moment you said “ta ta.. da da” was the happiest moments of your parents’ life… so they celebrated YOU and with you… on your BIG achievement!! but let’s say we move forward to the 10 years old YOU who still is saying “ta ta.. da da” and can’t talk… 🙂 got the message!!

No matter how small your achievement is, you need to celebrate it, even if it’s by your self, and even if it’s by rewarding your self with a piece of chocolate or soft drink… it’s important that you take that moment for yourself… and THEN MOVE ON.. and Raise your expectations… And then when you outperform your past achievement with a significant step, then it’s time for a new celebration!

When I started The Monday Tip, there were literally only 2 or 3 people reading it, and I kept on writing and publishing tips week after week, and was happy the day that I received even some attention, and fast forwarding to Today… I have more than 8,000 Reader. Now That’s something that needs celebration 🙂
