Reading the signs and signals

Working as a futurist and as a senior strategist for a while now, taught me a lot of things and one of the most important lessons I learned was about reading signs… Signs about the future, and about what can happen to you or let’s say MAY happen to you.

Let’s say that you are driving your car, to hear a weird sound coming from the engine, then that sound stops and you don’t hear it again… You may decide to check it out (just to be on the safe side) or just ignore it as it just happened as a one-time thing… if the same sound gets repeated another time, then the sign of something that may be wrong gets stronger, and your internal voice would start communicating with you to tell you that it would be wise to check it out… and if that sound was there for the 3rd time, the sign is stronger now, and you are now saying that you need to check it out… but come on, the car is still running, and everything seems in order, so you decide to get the car engine checked “when you have time”… 2 weeks later, your car broke down while you were taking your wife and kids out and the timing couldn’t be more wrong… and the story went on…

Another configuration of the same scenario can go into relationships, business transactions, and any other you may think of… you may see some signs that can seem weird but not necessarily worrying from your friend or partner, and then you notice the same behavior more than once until a big issue can happen like betrayal or whatever.

This week’s tip is about the action that you need to train your self on doing… It’s not about the signs… It’s about READING the signs… You may be going into a place and you see a sign outside in a different language that you don’t understand, and you ignore it and go, only to discover that this sign was meant to stop you from entering or from performing an action and so.

Some of us are lucky to have CLEAR signs on their way, while the rest of us are not… Imagine that you could see a person wearing a sign that says “Liar” or “Cheater” before things would be more serious between you two. Therefore if you want to train your self on reading the signals, you need to understand patterns and trends… and then you can spot the outlier among these, so taking the example of the car, you know what the different sounds that it produces, and you can tell which sound is “natural” and which is not.

Find out about something that is wrong, or let’s say not right come from reviewing and analyzing the landscape of all the patterns and what is traditionally have been considered in a normal range and which is not… and mostly you would “feel” that something is not right… Yes, you read that properly… Experienced professional would sense and feel that something is not right but they can’t tell what is it… so they start investigating more… maybe by reviewing old data (did this happen before… with me or with someone else?) and if they couldn’t find it in the old data… they would create a situation that would make them surer or not…

Just like a doctor, you may find a patient showing a specific symptom, that may seem like a specific sickness, but you can’t be sure with the current data, so you ask for more tests, like blood tests and you check the results against what should be classified as the normal range and you find the outliers and evaluate if these outliers together can prove your theory or not..

The advice I can give you is that you are NOT to ignore the signs, some signs lead to great opportunities, and some are for a potential discomfort and even a disaster… and they call it the “Window” of opportunity for a reason… if you don’t act quickly, you would miss It and it will be closed; meanwhile, the threat would start small, and then it grows.

Trust your hunch, and act wisely and appropriately… and it’s ok to be wrong… the more you are wrong, you learn, and the next time you’re more trained to make the right discovery.

 Enjoy your week,

SC

Get to know your own angels and demons

When I was young, and was watching cartoon, there has always been that situation, when the character is about to do something (good or bad), and suddenly they an angel and a devil would appear on each of her shoulder and where each would advise on their own preference…

In many points in our life we may face some situations (let’s call them opportunities for now) where we need to take a decision to seize the moment and go for it or stop our selves from taking another step. Whether you prefer to visualize the small angel and demon talking to you or not… Each of us have some sort of an internal mechanism… You can call it whatever you want (Habits, Instincts, Values, Beliefs, Cultures… etc) but at the end, it’s what drives you to take the next step or not.

“Our minds sometimes see what our hearts wish were true.”

Dan Brown, Angels & Demons

This week’s tip is about getting to know the Angel & Demon of yours, and how to make sure you don’t have to deal with them at the wrong time. (At least not without knowing them)

The reason this is important is because you would want to get to know yourself better and to have more control over your actions rather than making other uncontrollable factors making you take a decision when you are more vulnerable than your normal 100%.

According to research, if you get under stress and let’s say you are in a fear from something, your brain will shut down some of the functionality and will give over the control to “habit”, so you would do whatever you are used to always do; I guess it’s something that has to do with the evolution of the old man being chased by lions and stuff… So if you were pushed under pressure and your logic got stuck and the auto-pilot took over and you don’t have any time to try out something new, but had to apply “what you always did”… What would that be? and will the Angel take control or will it be the Demon?

You may be in a crisis situation, a relationship “situation”, or just by random. How do would you trigger your Angel Auto-pilot or your Demon Auto-pilot to come out for a small chat?

Well it’s not as simple as it may sound, however, and luckily for you, the source of the wiring our brains are pretty much the same Fundamentally. So Whether the source of stress is actually a lion chasing you, or late bills chasing you; Or the source of Opportunity is a Burger King’s Whooper or a long term Investment… The chemicals in your head would almost act the same. And with high chances that the Angel / Demon would use the same logic on your behalf and you would act the same…

So for this week, try to get to know more about YOU by rehearsing some fake situations or fictional scenarios such as imagining that you were seduced by someone else’s partner while you are married… How would you react? or watch a movie and see if you were in a situation of the bad guy… How would you act?

It’s a funny exercise that you will get better at it with time… and the more you rehearse it… and once you get to know your angel and demon more… You can then TRAIN THEM to act in a specific way rather than relying on what would happen by chance.

Have a great week,
SC

The Mirror has one face… Yours!

It’s this period of the year again… We are closing on 2018, a year that was filled with so many events and activities that will keep us talking for many years to come. What was your reflection on your year?

If you are someone like me, the year 2018 itself was not just a year, but somehow a milestone year that concluded an era of many years before that; whether personally or professionally.

Like the legend of the phoenix
All ends with beginnings
What keeps the planet spinning
The force of love beginning

~ Daft Punk – Get Lucky
Songwriters: Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo / Nile Rodgers / Pharrell Williams / Thomas Bangalter

The world have changed, but so did you, so it’s just unfair to look solely on what the external factors are and omit the fact that your life have evolved with almost the same rate, and you because (most likely) a totally different person than who you were 5 or 10 years back.

Looking at the Mirror

When we look at the mirror, we see ourselves, (duhhh), but how much we observe versus how much we see, how much we omit versus how much we audit, the answer could be fascinating for you to answer.

There’s a famous experiment that involved putting a frog in the boiler with a regular temperature water, and then slightly increasing the temp by 1 degree every period of time, and despite that the water is getting hotter and hotter, the frog fails to identify what was actually happen, until eventually he boils to death.

And so many of us are that frog, and so many of us are looking at the mirror everyday to see the bowl of water heating up by 1 degree, and not taking any action, because nothing dramatic is happening OR because we think that “when the time gets critical… I will do something dramatic to change”, whether you want to start eating healthy or finding a better job or do something about a relationship issue;

The tip for this week, and this year, is to look at the mirror and observe critically the person you find on the other side, ASK YOURSELF if you recognize him or her, is there any change you want to do, are you at the point ‘Just One More Degree before Boiling’?

Close on this year by counting your blessings, and learning from your mistakes, and most certainly Looking forward to a Better you… A News more enhanced version of YOU… That will start on the same day you looked at the mirror.

To End this year, from myself to you, from my family to yours I’m wishing you and all your loved ones a happy new year 2019 filled with love, success and prosperity.

Warm regards,
SC

Evolve

This morning on my way to work, I stopped by the gas station’s supermarket and wanted to get myself some breakfast (by the way I start work REALLY early), it was almost 6 AM already, and while I was browsing the items in that mini-market, I saw a young girl, she was around 13 or 14, and all dressed up with her school uniform for preparation for school, and I continued browsing around… and then I saw her again across the hall.. I was a bit surprised of how fast she could move from 1 meter behind me to around 20 meters in a blink of an eye..

When I was paying for my items, I saw her and her again, they were twin sisters :), both wearing the same school uniform and getting ready to go to school. I smiled because when I saw each separately, I really couldn’t tell the difference, but when they were together, I could spot so many items to tell them apart.

This week’s tip is not about similarities but about differences, and how to make a difference in our life and build a better us.

You can always take some time to reflect on your life and see how much you have accomplished and how close you are to realizing your dreams, or even how far you are from where you want to be, that’s a very healthy exercise you can do; you just need to keep in mind that life will take you places you just need to enjoy the journey with all its ups and downs.

Going from the story of the Twins, in biology, an identical twin have practically the same genomes (A genome is an organism’s complete set of DNA, including all of its genes. Each genome contains all of the information needed to build and maintain that organism. In humans, a copy of the entire genome—more than 3 billion DNA base pairs—is contained in all cells that have a nucleus.) and therefor neither (in simple terms of course) have a competitive edge over the other, yet that can literally guarantee nothing about their identical future.

Just for fun check out Wikipedia on the list of famous twins

So the tip for this week, is how to make a difference in your own life, and mostly it goes down to a simple decision…

What do you want to be in your Life?

Do you want to be a famous actor? do you want to be superstar doctor? do you want to be an athlete? who do you REALLY want to be…

The most important part you need to understand, that in order for you to get to where you want to become… You need to EVOLVE… you need to evolve yourself, your style, your education and so many things… And realize that this PROCESS is imperfect, and often painful to do…

You just need to KEEP GOING, until you are free from your current self, and evolved into the person you want to be.

This can take time, but if you stop there… You will not WIN… and instead, you will stay in a phase that you will never feel satisfaction, so you need to KEEP GOING until you make it.

Reach till the END… and Then you will start a new beginning in a new Form, in an evolved manner…

‘What the caterpillar perceives is the end, to the butterfly is just the beginning.’

Enjoy your Week!

Enjoy your own life, without comparing it with that of another

They say that it’s easy to feel better when you watch someone else feeling more miserable, and it’s easy not to feel pretty if you bumped into a more attractive person, and you know what, yes they are right! only it’s a double edge sword… You can hurt yourself while doing that.

I’ll give you an example from a question I asked, on my first post on this blog:

When was the last time you looked at yourself in the mirror and you were completely satisfied with what you saw? do you accept everything about yourself everyday?

Before you continue reading… Think through the first 2 paragraph, and try to conclude what this week’s tip would be…

Come on… Try it before you continue reading.

I’m curious to learn what your answer was, so if you can comment on this page or send me a msg on my Facebook Page…

Ok here it goes,

Instead of checking how good or bad your life is by looking at others, you should do it when you look at yourself; Some of the best times of our life may never come back to us, not because life is cruel, but simply because the phase where we could party all night and sleep for 1 hour and then jump up and continue our day, needed to end at your 20s, and when you’re 40, that won’t be pretty applicable anymore (Because of our body structure/Energy of course).

is that a bad thing? not particularly, Noone says that you should keep on partying all your life, but I would say to look at your life TODAY, and realize where you are RIGHT NOW, and compare it with Where you would want to be and where you were… I Wouldn’t normally suggest that someone would crawl back to the past, EXCEPT if He/She would be looking at the future at the same time.

You could not like yourself right now, remember you can change… and you can have a great Life… it’s in your hands… not in anyone else’s,

“Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”

So it’s time you look at yourself and check out how your can change… and if you need ideas, it’s ok to look at others… but don’t let others make you feel inferior just because they are doing better than you are, you really have no idea what they might be going through.

Enjoy your Week!

Don’t be the same. BE BETTER!

It’s the first Monday of the year 2016, and possibly you’re at the stage of thinking of beginnings, change, transformation, ambition or simply thinking about improvement.

I’ve had a practice since I was in my early 20s, that I used to do on the edge of the year… When I look back and reflect on how that year has passed by, and more importantly… How my life is going?

Well, yes, some years has been sweet, some has been sad, some were weird and it seems that the more you grow older, things start to get more and more challenging, and you get back to wishing how easy your life was when you were younger, and the opportunities you could’ve seized with that Body you had and so on…

“Don’t wish it was easier wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge wish for more wisdom” – Jim Rohn

Well, the thing is… No matter how you want to look at it… It will look right. YES… it will look right! if you want to see it as a bad year, you will be right, and if you want to see it as a good year you will see it… so either way… rest assure.. You’re Right!

My advice for you this year, is to become a better version of yourself… Become A Better Person… Just BE BETTER!

You may not be able to control the wind, the flow of things, the rain or whatever you face externally… But remember that you can ALWAYS control your personal development! Learn More, Explore More, Experience More… And BECOME BETTER.

Try to check edX or Coursera and pick one of the free courses.. You can get an accreditation from one of the top universities in the world, like Harvard and MIT… FREE & ACCREDITED… imagine if you can take 1 or 2 courses per year… Would that be better on your resume by December 2016? How about Matching that with 2 books… and maybe learn a skill from just watching YouTube?

It’s easy… YET you’re still the SAME as last year! Don’t be… BE BETTER THIS YEAR!!

Enjoy your week,
SC
